Why hair is the hard part
A strand of hair is often thinner than a pixel, so the pixels around it are a blend of hair and background. A cutout that treats every pixel as either kept or removed gives hair a jagged helmet; one that stretches a low-resolution mask gives it a blurry halo. Clipout refines the edge band at full resolution and estimates the true hair colour in each see-through pixel.
Ideas for the new background
- Blurred original gives a portrait-mode look with the subject in focus.
- A plain colour suits profile pictures, team pages and ID-style photos.
- Your photo puts the person somewhere else entirely; it is scaled to fill the frame.
Private by default
Portraits are personal. Clipout never uploads them: the model runs in your browser, and the photo and the cutout stay on your device.
Questions
Can I make a passport or ID photo with it?
Clipout can put a person on a plain white or coloured background. Official photo rules also cover size, lighting and pose, so check them for your document.
What if a strand of hair was removed?
Open Touch up, choose Restore, and paint over it; the original pixels come back. Erase does the opposite.
Are my portraits stored anywhere?
No. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
