Privacy Policy
Clipout (clipout.io) is a product name of, and is operated by, Elowin Labs LLC (“we”). The short version: your images never leave your device, and the only things we measure are page views and coarse, anonymous tool events.
Your images
Your images are never uploaded. Clipout runs its AI model inside your browser, on your own device, using WebGPU or WebAssembly. When you add an image, it is opened in the memory of your browser tab, processed there, and the result is saved straight from the tab to your device. This site has no upload endpoint: we could not see your images even if we wanted to.
You can check this yourself: open your browser's network panel while you remove a background, or load the page once and turn your connection off. The tool keeps working, because nothing it needs is remote.
While an image is being processed, your browser keeps a temporary copy of it in its own storage (IndexedDB) so the page can pick the job back up if the browser reloads it partway, for example to free memory. That copy never leaves your device and is deleted as soon as the job finishes or fails.
If you share images to the installed app from another app, your browser holds them in its own cache only until the page opens them, then deletes them. They are never sent anywhere.
What your browser downloads
On your first visit your browser downloads the page, the ONNX Runtime Web engine and the BiRefNet model (about 115 MB with WebGPU, about 94 MB on phones and other devices that use the CPU engine) from this site, and keeps them in its cache so later visits and offline use are fast. These requests transfer files to you; they carry nothing of yours to us.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first, EU-hosted service, to count page views and a few coarse tool events: which engine ran (GPU or CPU), an image size band, a time band, the export format and background type, and the reason when something fails. Plausible sets no cookies, collects no personal data, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you across sites. We never send file names, image dimensions, or anything derived from your images.
Turn Analytics off in the cookie preferences and your visits are not counted.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse. We do not use it to identify you, and it never includes your images.
Cookies and storage on your device
We keep a few small entries in your browser: the choice you make in the cookie notice, your light or dark theme and the language you picked (if you allow Functional storage), and a note that keeps the tool on the CPU engine for a while after the browser had to reload the page. The Cookie Policy lists each one. Your privacy choices, in the footer of every page, reopens your preferences.
Support payments
Optional tips are handled by Ko-fi and Stripe on their own websites. We do not see your card details. Ko-fi shares your display name, email address, message and amount with us so we can thank you and keep accounting records. Nothing from Ko-fi or Stripe loads on this site; the Support this tool link simply opens their page.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we never receive, store or use your images for anything, including training AI models.
Your rights
Because we do not hold personal data about you beyond the aggregate analytics above, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you contact us by email or through a tip, we use your message only to reply, and we will delete it on request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Clipout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If how Clipout handles data changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top is updated.
